Undeserved Love

Talent is defined as "a special natural ability or aptitude," but that doesn't even come close to describing Jana. For reasons that I could never justify or explain, she made a quilt for me. By hand. Not just any quilt, but one with such detailed and intricate panels, it's simply stunning.

Words can't even describe how in awe I am of Jana's talent, or how appreciative I am of this wonderful gift. Someone asked me when she gave me the quilt what I did to deserve it, and my answer's still the same - "Absolutely nothing."

It is truly a work of art, one that I will forever cherish. Thank you, Jana . . . you're the bestest.

  1. Thank you so much for the compliments, but I feel the need to make a couple of things clear.

1st - to say a quilt was made "by hand" implies that the quilt was hand pieced and hand quilted... neither of which is true in this case. I used a sewing machine to assemble the quilt top, my very dear friend and talented owner and operator of a longarm quilting machine, Suzann, machine quilted it for me, and then I put on the binding.

2nd - you received this quilt because you, Tom, are YOU... caring, giving, thoughful, loving, funny, intelligent, soulful... (I could go on, but then your head might start to glow...) You are John's soul brother - which means a great deal to John (and me). (BTW, John is the one who asked me to make this quilt for you.)

    We love you.
