Day 222 - People I Dig

Steve is one of the smartest people I know; I'm privileged to call him both a colleague and a friend. His love for the outdoors is complemented nicely by his skill as a photographer, and his Midwestern upbringing and solid moral fiber makes his personality top-notch to boot.

We're the same age, just two days apart, and this is nearly a month overdue, but happy birthday, amigo, and may your trails always be clear.

Day 221 - People I Dig

It's been often said that MD is the face of the agency; I can't imagine anyone better.

Day 209 - Solitude

The Silver Peak Trail climbed over 1500 feet in a very short period of time, making the steep entry hike very challenging; we wondered what the fence posts we passed were meant to keep in or out . . .

Day 195 - Grand Canyon National Park

These are the last of my Grand Canyon panoramas; it's been hard to choose which ones are my favorites.

One of the park rangers said that the canyon changes minute-to-minute because of the way the light and shadows strike the surfaces . . . and I'm inclined to agree.

Black and White

Since Ansel Adams did all his work in Yosemite in black and white, I'll end my collection of Yosemite pictures with my favorites that I've converted to that format. Thanks, Yosemite and thanks to all my friends for such a wonderful trip.

Day 121 - People I Dig

Peter Giles is the voice for Fox Sports' television promos for both Major League Baseball and NASCAR; he's also voicing all my training pieces for the Acura TL.

He also did this...

Day 94 - Dad

Happy birthday, dad, and may you one day shoot your age . . .

Day 87 - People I Dig

I've known Mike for close to 15 years; he's still one of the most talented shooters / cameramen / videographers I've ever seen. And despite his aversion to having his picture taken, his wife Janelle, daughter Olivia, and son Harrison sure do make him a little less grumpy in front of the camera . . .

Day 52 - People I Dig

Cori and I were in kindergarten together, and were in most of the same classes all the way up through high school. She and her husband were kind and generous enough to let me visit them last weekend.

She and I have talked about this in the past, but it's amazing that two people could be completely out of contact for twenty years and reconnect on a level that most people could never imagine. It's a testament to where we were raised, but more importantly, how we were raised, that there's a common level of values, integrity, and moral fiber that stands the test of time. She's a great friend, and as adults, it's rare to be able to say that about someone you knew when you were five.

Day 46 - People I Dig

Michael was a fan of the Nickel Diner, and especially loved his chimichurri steak. I wish I could see him and Margie more than once a year . . .

Day 45 - People I Dig

Margie was in town for her annual Grammy pilgrimage, and despite being jet-lagged, always makes time to have dinner with me.

Her editor Michael said this picture of her was very Catherine Deneuve-esque . . .

I agree, and hope The Outliar doesn't mind.

Day 17 - People I Dig

Stew Herrera is a fabulous voice-over talent, and a huge baseball fan to boot. He's a blast to hang with and tells some of the best stories.

Day 303 - People I Dig

I first got to knew Art through his then-girlfriend and my office mate Marnette. Today, they've been married almost 12 years, have three beautiful children, and were my upstairs neighbors for over eight years. To say I dig them is a gross understatement of my affection . . .

Day 294 - People I Dig

Tina is one of the newest additions to my group at work, and she likes to spend lunch curled up in one of the open spaces with a book . . . some light reading like Dostoyevsky.

Day 286 - People I Dig

It's a couple of weeks overdue, but Bicks is another in the multitude of departmental defectors . . . not that I blame her one bit, but she's still sorely missed, especially since the Giants are still in the MLB playoffs.

Day 280 - People I Dig

Rosie, thankfully, is NOT leaving the agency, at least not yet, despite working crazy hours as an art buyer and generally making my life a little easier to handle. She popped into my office today for an impromptu happy hour.

And for all her protests, she does take good pictures, both in front of and behind the camera.

Day 279 - People I Dig

Joining the long list of people who've left my department, Alexis got an offer from her former employer that was too good to pass up.

Great for her, bad for us, especially the other TD.

Oh, and child, you have GOT to let those sneezes out. You're gonna blow a gasket one of these days...

Day 278 - People I Dig

Andy Milder is an amazing actor (Apollo 13, Frost/Nixon, Weeds) who also does voiceover work; he's currently recording all of my training pieces for the 2011 Honda Odyssey.

With all the clichéd stories of actors and talent being difficult to work with, it's refreshing to have someone like Andy break all the stereotypes and do a bang-up job, every time, all the time.

Day 255 - Workplace Walls

Never thought a complete Acura exhaust system could be a wall installation, but it works.

Day 254 - Workplace Walls

This whole place should be dripping with this kind of offbeat creativity, and unfortunately, it's not.
