After hiking, we continued walking west along the South Rim of the canyon and saw this Agave utahensis, or Utah agave, with a bloom well over seven feet high. The big bumblebees loved it.
Thank goodness my sister didn't know how to focus my other camera, otherwise there would've been a picture of me flat on my stomach shooting this pinacate beetle, or as it's more commonly known, a stink beetle.
It's amazing I even spotted this tiny grasshopper(?) in the garden, and it's even more amazing that it stayed still when I moved the camera in. Click on the picture for a closer look.
